“Waves of Change”
“Waves of Change” is a mixed media study of texture and movement using cacti spines from my land transformed to ocean waves, coral, and sea fauna.
The inspiration for this body of work is the ever changing, yet ever constant ocean. It’s crashing waves, the ebb and flow of the tide, and the movement of the current alter the shoreline as well as what lies underneath. Despite its forces of change, the ocean’s salty breeze and rhythmic sounds provide a constant source of restorative power, and a feeling of peace and calmness. Perhaps in the waves of change we find our true direction.
“For whatever we lose
(a you or a me),
It’s always our self we find in the sea.”
E.E. Cummings
